Sharon Stiller

Sharon StillerLawyer by day, artist by night. Can you imagine more of a left brain, right brain struggle? With me, the two are actually more unified. I am a litigator, handling employment matters for businesses, and commercial and family litigation. No wonder I love to draw people — I spend so much of my life observing them.

I wanted to be a lawyer from age 8 on. I was lucky enough to graduate college in three years and then to be one of only 20 women in my law school class of 200. I was one of the two first female full time Assistant District Attorneys in Monroe County, leaving for private practice after almost eight years, and I've practiced law in Monroe County law firms ever since.

Although I always loved to draw and paint, I blocked it when I was in law school. About five years ago, I started again — first with plein air painting, and then taking classes from Steve Carpenter. Although I have tried other types of paintings, I always gravitate back to painting people. I just love their stories.
